王学典，山东省滕州市人，1956年3月生,1979年9月考入山东大学历史系；1986年7月该系史学理论专业研究生毕业，获硕士学位并留校任教。1996年晋升为教授，1998年被评聘为博士生导师。现任《文史哲》主编、中国史学理论研究会副会长、《史学月刊》编委等职。主要致力于历史哲学和史学理论研究、中国现代思想文化史研究，尤长于中国现当代史学思想及史学思潮研究。现已出版《历史主义思潮的历史命运》、《二十世纪后半期中国史学主潮》、《翦伯赞学术思想评传》、《顾颉刚和他的弟子们》、《20世纪中国史学评论》等多部专业学术著作，并在《中国社会科学》、《历史研究》、《近代史研究》、《北京大学学报》、《文史哲》及《史学理论研究》等重要期刊上刊发论文70余篇。

Wang Xuedian, a native of Tengzhou, Shandong Province, was born in March 1956. Wang was admitted to the Department of History, Shandong University in September 1979, got his Master’s degree in July 1986 from the specialty of historical theory of the Department, and remained at the University after graduation as a teacher. In 1996, he promoted to the title of professor, and has been appointed the doctoral tutor since 1998. At present, he holds the positions of Chief Editor of the Journal of Literature, History and Philosophy, Associated Chair of China Association for the Studies of Historical Theory, Editorial Committee Member of the Journal of Historical Science, and etc. He has been devoting himself mainly to the studies of historical philosophy, historical theory as well as the modern and contemporary Chinese ideological and cultural history, especially expert in the studies of modern and contemporary Chinese historical thoughts and ideological trend. Up to now, he has published several academic works such as Historical Fortune of the Trend of Historicism, Main Trend of Chinese History in Latter 20th Century, A Critical Biography of Jian Bozan’s Academic Thoughts, Gu Jiegang and His Disciples, Chinese History of 20th Century in Review, and has published more than seventy papers on Chinese Social Sciences, Historical Research, Modern Chinese History Studies, Journal of Peking University, Journal of Literature, History and Philosophy, Historiography Quarterly and other authorized academic journals.
